    Luckily one of my neighbors has service through a more reliable Internet provider. Making matters worse, Brighthouse's customer service line, their sales line and their business line have been so overwhelmed with calls, I can't even complain. Brighthouse sucks.

    Update: Service restored about 1 a.m. this morning. Crisis averted.

    I called Brighthouse and set up that 'call me when service is restored' deal, and it did in fact call me at 7am.
